Everyone in the first couple of chapters of Luke break into song, knowing that words alone cannot capture the surprising choice God has made to come into the world through a young, unmarried woman. That woman's song, Mary's Magnificat, invites us to break into song this season, calling for a new vision of the world, one that speaks to the light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
