Our Denomination
Our church is one of more than 3,000 churches that make up the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) across America and Canada. Each church is governed completely by its own congregation. As churches, we pledge ourselves to each other in a covenant of love, working together to do what individually we could never do alone.
Originating on the American frontier in the early 1800s, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a mainline Protestant denomination that rose from a desire to move beyond the rigid divisions of denominations. The denomination's founders sought to create an open communion where all are welcome.
We “have no creed but Christ” and do not require members to ascribe to any set of prescribed beliefs. For further information on the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) beliefs and practices, please visit Disciples.org.
The Christian Church of Northern California-Nevada is the regional unit of the Disciples of Christ church in the northern areas of California and Nevada, comprising 60+ congregations and congregations in formation with approximately 6000 total participating members.
