Award for Winter Nights!

JustFaith is a national Christian organization, headquartered in Louisville, KY, that promotes the values of social justice. This year they are celebrating their 20 Anniversary and have had over 65,000 people participate in their programs. As part of their celebration, they established the Mary and Gary Becker Social Justice Award to be given to a program/person who exemplifies the principles of social justice in an extraordinary way.

This inaugural award was given to our local Winter Nights program and its founder, Gwen Watson! Many of our member faith communities have participated in this program over the years and Gwen Watson is a longtime member of I4C (Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County) and past Director of SOJA (Social Justice Alliance). The award includes a contribution of $4,000 to the program and the continuation of its work.
